First off, an earlier reviewer was correct about the “stainless steel” version — it’s “Stainless Steel: The Color” not “Stainless Steel: The Metal”. It is a slightly shiny paint job though, so they do look metal-like.

That said, these are really nice. I thought that with the low price they’d be cheaply made but they’re actually much nicer than the ones I had bought from my local hardware store (which broke and are now replaced by these). These include the plastic wire staples to make things tidy and a generous number of small screws for mounting the lamps, power supply and wiring. They’re even designed so that you either surface mount them or flush mount them (you’ll need a hole saw to flush mount them though). I’m impressed, they’re well-constructed, were easy to install and I expect they’ll age well.

Update Feb 28th, 2008: Almost a year now and I’m still very pleased with these. They continue to work fine, no bulbs have needed replaced, and they still look good. I’m quite happy and still highly recommend them (presuming the manufacturer hasn’t changed them since a year ago

This gets 4 stars simply because the use is very simple and the price is right for them.

Though the words “stainless steel” in the title are plain wrong – these are a gray plastic and rather cheaply made.

But that said, they are mostly hidden away and give a nice under cabinet light, so they certainly serve the purpose. Very easy to install and route wires. Just don’t expect a well-made, quality material fixture.
